BMW Motorrad is recalling 9,329 motorcycles.  The recall is for the potential of a leaking front brake caliper.  BMW says that over time, a leaking front brake caliper may reduce the amount of brake fluid in the reservoir.  And, that a low volume of brake fluid could affect brake performance and increase the risk of a crash.

The caliper recall covers a wide range of BMW motorcycles; adventure, touring, sport, and sport touring.

According to the recall, the front brake calipers may leak brake fluid when parked.  This failure causes the motorcycle not to meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 122, “Motorcycle Brake Systems.”
