MURRIETA, Calif. — KTM has updated the braking system of the 2022 RC 125 and RC 390 sport motorcycles with new ByBre (By Brembo – a subsidiary of the Italian braking firm) components which are lighter for improved overall performance.
The new pieces saved some 9.7 pounds (4.4 kilograms) when compared to previous versions) of unsprung mass, a significant amount for an already pair of lightweight sport bikes.
ByBre is supplying a radially mounted, four-piston fixed caliper combined with a 320 millimeter (12.6 inches) disc at the front and single-piston, fixed caliper and 230mm (9 inch) disc in the rear. The rear setup saves 2.2 lbs. (960 grams).
The additional 7.5 lbs. (3.4kg) of weight savings comes via a new, stronger four-spoke wheel design sporting open hubs.
The anti-lock (ABS) has been tailored to maximize braking performance of the new package.
