The rapper has a peculiar knack for modifying his rides beyond recognition. Here's what the weirdest custom cars in his collection look like.

Popular American songwriter, rapper, and singer Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas fame is a megastar. Over the course of his incredibly successful career, Will.i.am has been an actor, a DJ, and a television personality as well. Naturally, with that sort of success, the 47-year-old has managed to amass quite the fortune for himself, and with a reported net worth of $70 million, Will.i.am has more than enough money to spend it on whatever catches his fancy. With that sort of net worth also comes a huge collection of cars for several famous rappers, and Will is no exception.

The rapper is known for his incredible love of cars, and he surely has the collection to prove it. However, any car, however fancy or expensive, is not enough for Will.i.am’s incredibly niche taste, who seems to prefer decked out, modded, and customized cars more than anything in the world. From everything he has said about his cars and how his own custom cars speak volumes by themselves, it is clear that the rapper certainly has a thing for customizing his cars to look futuristic, several years ahead of the curve, and most definitely likes them personalized.

In that vein, let’s take a look at 8 customized cars in Will.i.am’s collection that show just how fascinated the star is with personalized wheels.

Will.i.am surely exercises a great way to vent his creative energies with his modified and futuristic car customizations, and his 1959 Corvette is a prime example of the same. Frankly, the car is almost unrecognizable. Built by West Coast Customs, the 'Vette.i.am' or 'Willvette' has the interior of a C6.

Keeping things futuristic on the inside is a huge touchscreen, a massive custom sound system, and a giant custom grille. Now, the design and the end result itself are a bit polarizing, to say the least, as it is not clear what Will was going for, and whether this highly posh modification really does look good is up for debate.

This one is surely a looker, and once again, was built for the rapper and singer by none other than the West Coast Customs team. Shaped and built from scratch, this Volkswagen Bug was built on a 1958 Beetle and costs a whopping $900,000.

The drivetrain for the car is a Corvette LS3, and on the inside, everything from the climate controls to the opening and closing of the doors is controlled by a single iPad. As West Coast Customs CEO Ryan Friedlinghaus stated—"You could pull up in this, and you could pull up in the dopest Lambo that's out there, and they're gonna look at this first." It's hard to disagree with that.

Will.i.am built this car by himself, and of course, with this car's heritage, it was extremely important to keep things futuristic. Painted all white, a single brake light covers the entire length of the rear, and the only black highlights come from the grille and its exposed bits on the side and bottom of the body.

Powered by a GM LS3 E-Rod V8, the car was made eight inches wider than the original body, with its interiors redesigned and re-fitted to be extremely plush and comfortable. Making things even better is the fact that the car is built out of aluminum, making it very light. Will apparently spent $700,000 on this build, and for our money, it doesn't look half bad. It's a far cry from DeLorean's actual futuristic Alpha5 car, though.

Custom-made by the team of West Coast Customs again, 'The Rocket' was originally a Tesla Roadster, which the designers turned into a supercar made completely out of carbon fiber. At this point, it is fairly clear that the rapper goes straight to Ryan Friedlinghaus and his WCC team whenever some sort of inspiration strikes.

Even the glass panels used on this modified Roadster are completely custom, with the interiors having been rebuilt and redesigned according to Will's whims of making everything he owns futuristic on the inside. While this modified Tesla Roadster looks quite good, especially owing to that carbon fiber build, the same can't really be said for his other Tesla car.

By all means, the Tesla Model S already does look pretty futuristic, for what it's worth. However, bottomless pockets and a knack for modifying every car made Will go ahead and customize his Model S as well. Stuck with a wide-body kit and a barrage of fake vents (terrible choice, always), the car was a product under his charitable IAMAUTO customization brand, which never really took off.

The car features heavily tinted windows, suicide doors, and an air intake that is just as fake as it is huge. Finishing off the (or)deal are some 'rim-less' wheels that really aren't nearly as cool as the rapper must have thought. They also look quite large for the car's size, whose stance is lowered down as well. To call it polarizing would be an understatement, but hey, it's his money.

This is one of Will.i.am's more tasteful custom builds. Revealed at the Paris Fashion Show in 2014, this modified 2015 Lexus NX was a far cry from Will's other extremely over-styled cars. Fitted with a wide body kit, the car showcases brushed aluminum and carbon vinyl that retains its classiness, and the NX itself is certainly one of the Japanese brand's better cars.

The matte Pearl White paintwork looks impressive and accentuates the black-tinted windows and panoramic sunroof all that more. The usual Will.i.am modifications are all here, of course, including 22-inch alloy wheels and a lowered stance. Bright orange brake calipers also come off strong as the only non-monochrome color on the NX. The leather Nappa seats also house custom embroidery, reading 'willpower'.

This custom Mercedes AMG GT is apparently Will.i.am's dream build, and the duo of Will.i.am and West Coast Customs partnered up again for this Mercedes-Benz custom build. This build is based on the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT, but is radically different from anything that has ever borne the Silver Arrows.

With the face of a G-Class and the hood vents from an SLS AMG, this is truly an amalgamation of the best of Mercedes, and the one-off, only-one-in-the-world 'Will.i.AMG' is truly a head-turner. In collaboration with Mercedes-AMG, the car spearheads Will's charity which seeks to provide access to STEAM resources and education to at-risk and struggling youngsters. Quite fittingly, then, the AMG GT is colored in a noble white paint, and for our money, looks phenomenal.

Whether Will.i.am customized his Bentley Continental GT or not is not known for sure, but looking at his resume, one could safely bet money on the fact that he did. In fact, back in 2010, the rapper-singer had been the victim of a burglary when someone broke into his Bentley and stole nearly $10,000 in valuables.

While we can't be sure that the Continental GT was customized, it's a pretty safe assumption to make, given Will's own track record.
