The 2023 Nissan Z is one of the most exciting new sports cars to launch this year and Jay Leno recently had the opportunity to put it through its paces for the very first time.
The comedian brought along the manager for project communications at Nissan North America, Jonathan Buhler, for the review and takes a deep dive into the Z. One of the first thing he learns about the car is that approximately 40 percent of owners are opting for the six-speed manual while 60 percent are ordering it with the nine-speed automatic.
As the review progresses, Leno and Buhler take a look under the hood where Nissan has fitted a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that pumps out 400 hp and 350 lb-ft (475 Nm) of torque. We are offered a tour of the engine bay where there are covers for the battery and brake fluid, as well as the engine cover that hides the two large heat exchangers. Buhler also explains that Nissan has opted to give the new Z a mechanical limited-slip differential as opposed to a viscous LSD.
