The new GSX-S1000GT’s exterior look is completely revamped to make it a champion of aerodynamics and the best-looking bike in the category. At the front, the complete fairing cut through the wind more efficiently, which sets a new benchmark for aerodynamics and rider wind protection in the sport-touring category. The dual mono-focus LED headlights and V-shaped LED position lights to give the vehicle a unique look and excellent lighting. The GSX-innovative S1000GT's take on a Grand Tourer establishes a new benchmark for the category, whether with or without the optional side cases or with or without the optional touring windscreen. The most significant alteration is in the back of the bike, where a new bolt-on seat subframe sits beneath totally redesigned tail bodywork, allowing it to carry more baggage and passengers than its predecessors.
The TRP six-spoke, lightweight, cast aluminum wheels are exclusive to GSX-S1000GT models and add to the bike's agile handling and dynamic performance. These new wheels and tires work in tandem with revised front inverted telescopic, coil spring, oil damped and rear link type, single shock, coil spring, oil damped suspension settings to provide the excellent grip, stability, and nimble handling required for sporty performance while also contributing to a comfortable ride. Many of the characteristics of the revised GSX-S1000 were carried over to the GSX-S1000GT, including the 999cc Inline-Four engine developed from a previous-generation GSX-R. Suzuki claims the output to be 150 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and 78 lb-ft of torque at 9,250 rpm, the same as the GSX-S1000. Compared to the GSX-S1000F, this has a stated two-horsepower increase but a two lb-ft loss of torque. The GSX-S1000GT is also equipped with Suzuki’s Clutch Assist System (SCAS), an assist and slipper clutch designed to minimize clutch lever effort and avoid rear wheel hopping during deceleration. The GSX-S1000GT also includes a fast shifter that allows clutch-free moving up and down the 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.
The Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) is a feature on the engine that allows the rider to choose from three distinct modes that vary output characteristics to meet riding circumstances or preferences. As the rider opens the throttle, Mode A, or Active mode, offers the sharpest reaction. Mode B, or basic mode, achieves the same maximum output but with a softer response and more linear power delivery; and Mode C, or comfort mode, achieves the same maximum output but with softer throttle response and more mild torque characteristics, delivering power in a smoother linear way.
Apart from dual LED headlights, the GSX-S1000GT is also featured with LED turn signals and tail lights. The ignition system is powered by the unique NGK CR9EIA-9 or the DENSO IU27D Iridium-style spark plug. The next best in the electrical systems is the wiring arrangement of the bike. The GSX S1000GT's CAN-style wire harness operates as a linked information network rather than a more complicated and slower traditional wiring harness. The motorcycle's numerous sensors and microcontrollers can interact with each other practically instantly due to the advanced CAN-wiring system.
The bike's dash is featured with a new Bluetooth-equipped 6.5-inch TFT display that lets the user control the ride modes and traction control levels. The new-generation TFT panel from GT has an anti-reflective coating and a scratch-resistant surface for enhanced viewing in direct sunlight. Smartphone connectivity provides access to several apps and services, including Android and iOS, making the journey more convenient, useful, and enjoyable. The screen's unique display boasts real-time tachometer movement and distinctive visuals, in addition to DAY and NIGHT display schemes and customizable brightness.
Apps and functionalities may be controlled with ease using the switches on the left handlebar. A smartphone may be connected through wireless LAN and Bluetooth, and the rider can charge the phone using the special USB plug on the left side of the LCD screen. Besides, some other electrical systems aid smoother ride and optimized performance, such as 5-the mode Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), Ride-by-Wire electronic throttle system, Bi-directional Quick Shift System, and Cruise Control.
In every way, the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT is the best-equipped bike in the grand tourer category. It has a revamped aggressive styling with a tweaked engine for a long, comfortable but powerful ride. The electrical systems from head to tail and its splendid features ensure the best output from the bike.
