WINTER HARBOR — Police Chief Danny Mitchell took a report regarding property damage to a vehicle in Winter Harbor on Aug. 26. The damage was determined to be accidental, caused by children throwing rocks. Police worked with the individuals involved to resolve the issue.

Mitchell provided backup to Gouldsboro Police in conducting a well-being check on Aug. 15. The well-being of the subject was verified.

Officer Eli Brown located an unattended campfire at Frazer Point on Aug. 15. The Winter Harbor Fire Department was called to extinguish the fire.

Brown responded Aug. 16 to reports of a man at the former marina on Sargent Street chasing somebody around and screaming. It was determined that the property, which is now private, had been trespassed upon, and the lessee of the property was screaming at and chasing a trespasser after the trespasser refused to leave.

Mitchell responded to a call about a vehicle fire on Newman Street on Aug. 17. The owner of the car had extinguished the flames prior to police arriving at the scene. It was determined that a brake line failure had seized the caliper and started a wheel fire. The vehicle was towed.

Mitchell responded to a motor vehicle accident in a private parking lot on Pendleton Road on Aug. 19. Police said the crash involved Daniel Gray, 41, of Addison driving a 2021 Peterbilt truck and backing into a 2019 Dodge Durango driven by 35-year-old Jason Smart of Old Town. Damage was greater than $1,000.

Mitchell responded to a call regarding two people who had been drinking and were reportedly assaulting each other on Aug. 25. Neither wanted to press charges.

Brown responded as backup for Gouldsboro Police to a report of an assault in progress on Aug. 27. The suspect was arrested and transported to jail.

Brown responded to a call in Corea Aug. 27 regarding a man who was reportedly sleeping at Lunch on the Wharf and awoke not knowing where he was. Police determined that the man was intoxicated, but caused no problems, and transported him home.
